New figures reveal a 52% increase in employee fraud in the last year.
The UK Fraud Prevention Service (CIFAS) survey showed that there was also an increase in ‘dishonest actions by staff to gain benefit’.
CIFAS suggests that this increase could be due to a combination of economic uncertainty, job insecurity and resentment over pay freezes which may have resulted in employees justifying their behaviour to themselves.
Arjun Medhi from CIFAS explains, “As people feel the pinch, organisations must be aware that staff are working harder than ever, often for smaller rewards; going without recognition or adequate recompense,”
