Figures from a new survey track the decline in UK consumer trust of energy suppliers.
Just 13% of the 634 UK participants of Accenture’s New Energy Consumer survey said they trust their supplier to help them optimise their energy consumption, down from 19% in the 2012 report.
Only 20% said they were ‘very satisfied’ with their current provider, compared to 24% in 2012, while 38% described themselves as ‘satisfied’, down from 41%.
In spite of this, only 6% felt certain they would change their supplier within the next year, significantly less than the 14% who felt the same in 2012.
Greg Guthridge, Accenture Energy Consumer Services managing director, said: ‘In the evolving energy marketplace, many utilities are at an inflection point at which they should redefine their role in consumers’ lives and refocus on building a base of trust.’
