The majority of the client base is family owner- managed businesses with a turnover ranging up to £5 million. Our client base is diverse, providing the opportunity to learn about different types of organisations from varying industry sectors.
The accounts team provide advice on a daily basis to their clients who are in various sectors. The team are the first port of call for most clients when they have financial and business related queries. This advice is invaluable to clients who do not have in house advisors to deal with day to day issues which can vary from a simple question on how to post in an accounting package to more complex queries on funding and succession planning.
Our team can put a set of figures into perspective. We’ll be able to discuss them with you to determine what the management accounts actually say about the state of your business. Through our stream-lined and efficient bookkeeping and back office systems we can identify with you the key performance indicators for your business and together decide what other factors are significant
Our students play a key role in supporting the work described above and, gain tremendous experience to provide top quality career development. You will benefit from on the job training from more senior members of the team, as well as joining peers on internal training courses that will develop you as an individual.
Students will become involved in client work very quickly, initially working as part of a larger team – perhaps taking responsibility for specific Accounts tests or aspects of the Accounts file.
The depth of services and clients you will be exposed to early in your career will provide you with a jump start into the varied world of accountancy. We will expose you to the skills you require to become a true trusted advisor to your clients in the future.

What can I expect 3 years down the line?

Throughout your career you can expect to have the space to grow and be challenged, whilst at the same time, have the comfort of the support of your manager and colleagues. We actively encourage innovative thinking and the development of soft skills alongside your technical training, and there is no better place to do this than in the workplace.
Once accounts students have passed their initial stages of the ACA/CA exams, the complexity of your work will increase and you will have the opportunity to get involved in more challenging accounting issues. We also expect you to now be competent enough to work independently.
Within three years, Accounts students will be coming towards the end of their ACA studies, and will have a thorough understanding of accounting practices. This will be reflected in the complexity of their workload and other responsibilities such as reviewing the work of other staff.
