We believe an audit should be of the highest quality, delivered by people who are passionate about auditing and, above all, be valuable to all clients. In Audit, our employees carry out independent checks to match a company’s financial statements with their current financial situation. Key to our audit process is an absolute commitment to quality. Audit quality and excellent client service go hand in hand. This message is instilled in all the people in our audit business and is fundamental to our culture.
Our client base is diverse, providing the opportunity to learn about different types of organisations from varying industry sectors.
Our approach assesses the size and complexity of the business before we begin auditing. The audit of an SME is likely to focus on the risks associated with size and evolving management structures rather than complex accounting issues. The audit of a large listed entity is likely to focus on areas of risk arising from diversity in operations and complex transactions, which raise more complex accounting issues.
Aside from the statutory audit of the financial statements of companies, the department handles specialist work such as the audits of pension schemes, charities and grant claims, as well as ‘special work’ such as due diligence and other transaction-related projects.
Our students play a key role in supporting the work described above and, gain tremendous experience to provide top quality career development. You will benefit from on the job training from more senior members of the team, as well as joining peers on internal training courses that will develop you as an individual.
Students will become involved in client work very quickly, initially working as part of a larger team – perhaps taking responsibility for specific audit tests or aspects of the audit file.
The depth of services and clients you will be exposed to early in your career will provide you with a jump start into the varied world of accountancy. We will expose you to the skills you require to become a true trusted advisor to your clients in the future.

What can I expect 3 years down the line?

Throughout your career you can expect to have the space to grow and be challenged, whilst at the same time, have the comfort of the support of your manager and colleagues. We actively encourage innovative thinking and the development of soft skills alongside your technical training, and there is no better place to do this than in the workplace.
Once audit students have passed their initial stages of the ACA/CA exams, the complexity of your work will increase and you will have the opportunity to get involved in more challenging audit issues. We also expect you to now be competent enough to work independently.
Within three years, audit students will be coming towards the end of their ACA studies, and will have a thorough understanding of audit. This will be reflected in the complexity of their workload and other responsibilities such as reviewing the work of other staff.
