Job Purpose

Your placement year will be spent learning about the role that a Corporate Finance advisor plays in guiding clients through a wide range of critical business transactions. At Mazars, our advisory team focusses on initiating transactions, structuring, negotiating and managing deals for a diverse variety of clients. We operate across all industry sectors and our clients range from private individuals, to smaller owner-managed businesses, to large multinationals.
Throughout your placement you will learn and develop the specialist skills our clients look for. You will also be able to demonstrate and apply technical, commercial, and industry knowledge, taking a pro-active approach to identify client issues and propose advice and solutions.
As a Corporate Finance Trainee, you will be supporting Partners and Managers to deliver excellent client service.

Job Role

During your placement, your typical daily duties may include:

  • Preparing transaction documentation, including business plans and financial forecasts
  • Supporting the team in marketing activity
  • Researching and preparing for new deal opportunities and pitches
  • Develop your knowledge of the key processes involved in completing mergers, acquisitions, disposals and management buyouts
  • Ensure sound knowledge of a client and its industry by researching background information and useful publications
  • Develop communication skills and build relationships with key stakeholders
  • Attend client meetings and social activities
  • Attend in-house technical training as required
  • Have an awareness of the various services provided by Mazars
  • Ensure timesheets are completed on a weekly basis

Academic Requirements

  • On track to achieve a 2.1 or above in any degree discipline
  • Minimum of 280 UCAS points (to have achieved in the same academic year, from your best 3 A Levels and excluding General Studies).
  • Grade B or above in GCSE English Language and Maths.

Training Contract & Study Support

We operate a number of in-house training courses which will give you the technical insight to keep up with changes in legislation and case law, both in the UK and worldwide.
You will be given a mentor and an appraising manager to keep your career and aspirations on track.
There may be an opportunity for ACA study support if you return to the firm after graduation.
