Metric is a young and dynamic chartered accountancy firm that was established to help London’s growing technology sector.
The technology sector is expanding more rapidly than any other industry in the United Kingdom (source: Tech Index). A combination of fast-growing start-up companies and the rising demand for technology in traditionally non-technical areas of business is fuelling the growth of Metric.
We’re looking to recruit a number of graduates who aspire to become chartered accountants. We have high standards and are looking for candidates with excellent academic qualifications as well as drive, ambition and a thirst for success.
In return, you’ll enjoy a competitive salary and an excellent study and benefits package, with salary increases based on exam and work performances. Additional benefits include pension contributions and
Perkbox. Add to this the opportunities and varied lifestyle that working in the Capital has to offer and it all adds up to a very rewarding opportunity.
Your route to the ICAEW (ACA) qualification
You will enter employment under a three year training contract, during which you will receive a wide range of practical experience while studying for your professional examinations; all of which leads to the ICAEW (ACA) Chartered Accountant qualification.
Practical training to equip you for your work with us is provided by our training partner (SWAT UK) and more technical training focusing on the exams is provided by professional tutors from Kaplan. Both are leading training organisations in the profession, and this is supplemented by in-house workshops and training sessions. You will be given paid study leave, and we also cover the costs of all courses and examinations for first attempts.
About Metric
Its founders established Metric, having previously worked for well-known accountancy practices and industry, with the intention of helping technology start-ups develop into multi-national groups. The founders have managed to do this by providing an excellent, tailored service. As a result, Metric’s clients seek a wide range of services, not simply “compliance” services, such as accounts preparation or audit.
It is because Metric’s typical client requires a much greater range of services than a “typical” business, that the firm is able to offer talented individuals such a wide range of experience. Metric expect such experience will broaden graduates’ knowledge, enhance their career prospects and improve their earning potential.
Metric’s clients are predominantly entrepreneurs who thrive on thinking creatively and developing solutions to problems. Metric is seeking high calibre graduates with similar qualities.
Metric is committed to providing its graduates with well-rounded accountancy training so that they may become highly regarded, exceptional business professionals, as well as qualified chartered accountants. Metric is able to make such a commitment because it’s not a large accountancy firm and trainees will therefore be exposed to many aspects of accountancy and tax at an early stage in their career. For instance, it is expected that Metric’s graduates will attend client meetings with a senior manager to broaden their commercial awareness. At Metric, we believe this mix of structured training and hands-on experience is vital to develop the future leaders of our firm.
Metric is seeking individuals who have the potential and desire to make a huge, positive contribution to the technology and business sectors.
Qualities we are looking for
- To be self-motivated and have a willingness to take responsibility.
- To be self-confident and use your own initiative.
- To have an adaptable and sociable personality.
- To have a keen interest in technology.
- To be excited to work with entrepreneurs and startups.
- To have leadership and management potential.
- Preferably can speak a second European language.
- Have a preference for a breadth of experience (e.g. bookkeeping, accounts, tax, company secretarial work and audit, rather than just specialising in one stream initially).
Of course, some of these are skills which can be improved over time, but the right pre-requisite characteristics must be present.
Minimum entry requirements
- 2:2 degree or above in ANY subject.
- A minimum of 300 UCAS points (old UCAS tariff) or 120 UCAS points (new UCAS tariff) or equivalents, from your top three grades (first attempts only). AS levels and General Studies are not accepted.

- GCSE Maths, grade B or above.
You don’t need any previous accounting experience as full training is provided.
If you have all this and are looking for a challenging and rewarding career, please apply today.
