Job Description

Moore Kingston Smith is a dynamic, leading UK firm of accountants and business advisers. As trusted advisers to businesses, private individuals and not for profit organisations, we are passionate about helping our clients achieve their ambitions. We have been committed to supporting them through good and tough times since 1923. Our highly experienced people have the strategic insight, drive and dedication to deliver results.

With over 60 partners and more than 500 staff based in and around London, we are a leading member of the Moore Global Network. An international family made up of over 30,000 people across more than 100 countries, members connect and collaborate to take care of our clients’ needs – at a local, national and international level.

Programme Overview:

Our Private Client Tax department are looking for an adaptable and motivated university student to join their growing team on a 12 month placement.

You will gain private client tax experience, supporting a variety of clients across a range of sectors. Right from the start you will be working with clients, getting to know their affairs and understanding their challenges. You will be encouraged to take responsibility early on and you will be exposed to all aspects of a job.

In this role, you will predominantly support senior colleagues with the annual tax compliance cycle to include the preparation and submission of tax returns, liaising with clients, and dealing with HMRC queries. You will be given support and guidance in all tasks that you are asked to undertake and gain exposure across the wider business and learning about the different ways in which we support and engage with our clients.

What are we looking for?

These 12 month placements are for students who need to complete a placement as part of their degree. We are looking for students who are interested in pursuing a career in tax, are adaptable, enjoy building relationships and are passionate about developing themselves.

In order to be eligible for this programme, you will also need:

  • be on track for a 2:1 or above in an undergraduate degree
  • have 112 UCAS points from three A-levels (or equivalent)
  • will be available to work from September 2023
  • have permission to work in the UK by September 2023

Please note:

To avoid bias, your application will be reviewed question by question rather than as one whole application and so you need to ensure that your answers make sense on their own. For example, you will need to avoid saying ‘as stated in my previous example’.

No one should face barriers when applying to work at Moore Kingston Smith. We’re keen to make sure our application process is accessible to everyone. This includes making adjustments for people who have a disability or long-term condition.
