Editorial & Marketing Assistant

Inside Careers is a B2B publishing company producing several annual print and online titles covering early careers in finance, consultancy and intellectual property. Highly regarded within the university community, we provide students with quality and impartial career information.

We are looking for someone to join us in the New Year in our Wimbledon office. As an editorial and marketing assistant, you will have a varied and interesting workload. Working as part of a small team you can expect a high level of responsibility from the start. This entry level position would suit a recent graduate with an impeccable understanding of the English language, high attention to detail, the ability to adhere to tight deadlines and flawless organisational skills.

Main Responsibilities

  • You will project manage the production of two annual titles; commissioning, copy chasing, copy editing, typesetting and proof reading both editorial and advertising content
  • Supporting colleagues with their titles; performing research, proof reading etc. as necessary
  • Maintaining and reviewing website content; sourcing, writing and editing articles, news, blogs, client copy etc.
  • Creating student email marketing campaigns using MailChimp which includes and monitoring and reporting on response rates
  • Managing Inside Careers’ social media activity across multiple platforms, helping to drive the strategic direction of campaigns to increase student engagement and promote the brand
  • Helping to plan, book and attend university careers events in the Autumn term
  • Some distribution responsibilities; reporting to the Marketing Manager

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Competitor research and analysis, as well as ad hoc research; generating editorial and marketing ideas
  • Updating the house style and ensuring that it is current and correct
  • Supporting the sales team where necessary by posting vacancies on the website and assisting with sales communications and admin

Necessary Qualities

  • High level of proficiency in written English (spelling and grammar to publishing standard)
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (excel and Word)
  • Exceptional organisation and time management skills
  • Astute eye for detail

Desirable Qualities

  • Creative with a good eye for design
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite; mostly InDesign but Photoshop and Illustrator knowledge would be a bonus
  • Previous experience in a B2B publishing environment
  • Knowledge of printing and production processes
  • Experience using Content Management Systems e.g. WordPress
  • Use of Email Marketing Systems e.g. MailChimp
  • Solid copy writing and copy editing skills
