BHP is the largest independent firm of chartered accountants in Yorkshire. Following sustained growth over recent years, during which time the firm has trebled in size, BHP now has a team of nearly 400 people, including 35 partners, operating over five offices across Yorkshire and Derbyshire, including; Leeds, York, Cleckheaton, Chesterfield and Sheffield. We have evolved our service offerings to enable us to offer a full portfolio of integrated audit, accountancy, business advisory, corporate finance and tax-led services to our clients.
Our people are the key to our success and we have a reputation for looking after them, at work and beyond. We are immensely proud that BHP has been ranked the second-best accountancy firm to work for in the UK, and the 35th best company to work for across Yorkshire and the Humber, in the Best Companies survey 2021. This marks the third year that the firm has been recognised as one of the best places to work in the UK. BHP is a ‘people business’ through and through, and the employees are the beating heart of the firm.
We understand that we also have a part to play in our community and we are passionate about making a difference to improve the lives of others. Our people have raised more than £50,000 for various charities in the last two years and we actively encourage our people to take a paid day to carry out volunteer work for any charity they wish to help.
Our mission is to be the firm of choice, recognised not only for providing the highest quality advice to our clients but also for employing and developing the best people.

Hear from some of our trainees
“I have been hugely grateful for the support I have received, both in my day-to-day work and progressions through the ACA exams. I have also enjoyed the opportunities to get involved in other areas of the business, including being an active member of the CSR committee and helping new starters settle in.” – Sam Holroyd, Semi-Senior Accountant
“The best thing about being a tax trainee at BHP is the professional development. I’ve had the opportunity to gain experience in various departments across the firm. Everyone is really supportive, whether it’s regarding work, study or personal matters, and are always happy to help out where they can. For any graduates wanting to start a careers in tax, I’d recommend BHP” – Frankie Coombe, Semi-Senior Accountant
